Puma Playing Card Deck
2020
Product design; Art direction: Package design; Animation; Adobe Illustrator; Adobe Photoshop; Adobe After Effects

The Challenge
With sporting events, concerts, and internships cancelled, the FashionMash art direction class reached out to fellow Tar Heels whose games have been put on pause. These cards were sent to members of the Chapel Hill community as an invitation to play, whether it be poker with pals or solitaire in solitude. The game isn’t over—the rules have just changed.

Inspired by PUMA’s ‘Forever Faster’ motto, this deck of playing cards, Elements, harnesses the power and strength of the four elements: earth, water, air and fire. This deck challenges how users play the game by representing these elements as simple and abstract designs, highlighting the intersections of performance, art and nature.

Designing the Box
Outside of class, I designed the tuck box packaging and created dielines based on a personal deck of playing cards.

Fluidity Designs
2020

Product design; Graphic design; Web copy; Publicity; Adobe Illustrator
The Challenge
With Puma as our client and a print-on-demand company as our partner, we shifted gears to make uplifting loungewear for people locked inside their homes and in need of some comfort. UNC-Chapel Hill hospitals is a major part of our university so we chose to donate all proceeds to #GetUsPPE, an initiative to provide gear to healthcare workers.

In addition to designing products for Fluidity Designs, I was also on the web design and PR teams. I worked on the copy for both the tagline “Let’s Lend a Hand” (above) and the description of Fluidity Designs. We were featured on the National Retail Federation’s blog, ABC 11 News and Hussman School of Journalism and Media. My sports bra and bike short set Papillon is the best seller for each category. In total, my class raised $3,000 for PPE for healthcare workers.
